As smn who has a deathly allergy who literally cannot breathe as soon as i just smell the object of my allergy.... not necessarily. I dont have syringes or epi pens either, never had tbh. And ie. Extreme rashes and strong swelling alongside throwing up is /not/ mild. Not necessarily deathly either but they're serious enough that they could lead to a bad end.

How is that possible that you were not given an epi pen IF you go into anaphylactic shock- for your general practitioner to not prescribe you one if you are in fact actually “deathly allergic” to something is a little unheard of. I think you are confusing me describing anaphylactic shock with your experience with allergic reactions. People who easily go into anaphylactic shock - the idea of not owning an epi pen makes no sense - that means for example if you go to a restaurant and a cook accidentally uses peanut oils in your meal and you are in fact actually deathly allergic to peanuts- your airway would close in minutes some people even less than a minute depending and without an epi pen chances of survival are not high if you don’t get medical help asap.
We are talking about two different things severe or even mild allergic reactions vs anaphylactic shock. …

As someone who has various allergies that cause anaphylaxis. There are 4 stages to anaphylaxis. So, it does not mean that having anaphylaxis means immediately life threatening we just hear more about those cases when it comes to it.. Stage 3 is when you start to typically have issues or trouble breathing. Stage 4 is when you have reached a more life-threatening stage.
While is it true that a lack of an EpiPen can be scary there are also those who cannot use epinephrine. I personally am actually allergic to epinephrine and do not receive any positive benefits from it. For me, my only hope is that 911, or emergency services can be called on time or there is a doctor present that can perform lifesaving onspot treatent.

Adding onto that: seeing ppl around me go into shock bcs of my own allergic reaction usually is smth.. that makes me very calm? Like how some ppl can act calm in highly dangerous situations? Smth like that.
I'm lucky to have never had such a situation where I needed actually 112 bcs of my pills.
But yea.. I'd say it is deathly if your airways close up even if its not a 1 minute or you're done thing for me. If I were in an enclosed space smelling of it, my body would automatically reject it to "proctect" me and thus already causing me to longer being able to breathe.. :/
But again I'd say different allergies can also cause also different reactions, like depending on ingesting vs "just" skin contact plus the cross allergies. All that being said, even if an allergy isn't deathly that doesn't mean it is pleasant to experience.
Ie. I have a mild allergy to apples, I still eat them bcs I absolutely love apples, but the sweeter the apple, the worse the reaction. And once a reaction "happens/appears" (like swelling of lips and tongue, rashes) my body will automatically refuse to eat anymore bcs I feel physically sick to my stomach. Even if it's "mild" considering all stages, it's still smth I'd take medicine for and it still hurts.
And in our MCs case here, the brother knowing he has one, regardless of what stage MC has, and using it against him is torturous and and to be forced to throw up bcs of it is also considered abuse.
Basically what really bugs me here at ur og comment is the "only" at the start.. as if it can be discarded.. when that's clearly a bad reaction MC displays. :(
The MC can only be mildly allergic to apples because he was able to throw up the apples. People who are deathly allergic to something, once they ingest something they are deathly allergic to, that leads to anaphylactic shock aka the throat closing and the person inability to breathe - its fast acting. The MC didn’t show any signs of anaphylaxis, he didn’t use an Epi pen or a syringe of epinephrine- so his allergic is mild and gives him discomfort probably indigestion and maybe hives.
