I wouldn't pay them any mind honestly. There's nothing to be sad or apologetic about. This trope is only one of the many types available and people have the choice to ignore any they don't like.
I've found that the same people that start off complaining soon warm up to the murderous ML as the story progresses. "Silk Under Steel" is a good example. Where hate and vitriol comments once ruled the comments section, you will think that the latest peaceful comments belong to a different story. So, yeah, they'll calm down eventually.

Authors know this trope is very popular which is the reason why it's here to stay. I know I love me a toxic ML as I love to see their transformation. That's the entertaining part for me and I'll be bored if all MLs were green flags.

why are ppl complaining about the story... I mean yea the plot is obviously gonna have Stockholm syndrome and mc is gonna end up with ml (this is still not confirmed but just assumed since this is what most bl authors do sadly) but m here for the beautiful art and handsome ppl so #－.－)
