He already did. Any chance at a normal life in a nice town or city was ruined by his actions in the first series. He wandered into this town to commit suicide. He’s literally teetering on the edge of his own life and all it’ll take is another traumatic experience to topple everything he just acquired, he’ll probably actually loose his life at that time.
I mean we still haven't reached the end of the road. So it's not out of the table that the ending won't be a tragedy. That's why I'm hoping that it will be.
The pedo dude will be saving him from his father, sure. But who will save Nagisa from the pedo? I remember smells like green spirit ended in a bittersweet way with a realistic note. I hope for the author will be consistent and make the ending of this manga realistic one as well. Make the pedo face the consequences of his actions.
