More and more varied pairings are being made and YES, as a bisexual man, people do the whole "twink bottom/buff top" thing because of heteronormativity AND sexism, they view everything that's smaller and "fragile" as feminine, and everything big, imposing and the "top" as masculine, but right now there's a huge variety especially in Korean manhwa but Japanese manga is not far behind, it's just that most stories picked up by scanlation groups still have stereotypical pairings. No you can't fetishize bl any more than you can fetishize any genre of fiction. You only got half of your definition of fetishizing right. Fetishisation means having a sexual fixation on a non-living object or a trait of a person(for ex,like you said, their race) that isn't in itself sexual. Sexuality is inherently sexual so it can't be fetishised. What you mean is called"Objectification" and that's about real life people being treated as objects. BL is not about real people. They're fictional characters and you can't objectify fictional characters because they're literally objects, just drawings on paper. Irl gay men are "Objectified" and not "fetishized." The women who objectify gay men are not reflective of fujoshis(women who like bl). Bl didn't make those women objectify gay men, they did it themselves and blaming it on bl is silly.
