Imo, I won't call what Tristan did back then was betrayal since he just knew that Wren is the killer of his father. Imagine if the one who take care of you is your parents's killer. Mixed feelings, I believe. It's always the uncle who ruin everything. He knows everyone's weakness and he uses it cunningly.
i get the initial shock at hearing that fact - but lets Not forget, that Tristan's father used to leave him for days on end without food & he used to abuse him. that's how & why Wren found & felt pity for a small kid.
so yeah i get the shock of finding out. but when ur father was evil u still capable of forgetting that, let alone all the love, kindness & warmth u got from a complete stranger?
so after a day, week - month, he didn't try & find his foster father ┑(￣Д ￣)┍ just moved on with his life?

who said you have to happy about this??( -_・)? there are times in fiction when some characters doesn't get a happily ever after. You should have know that this story isn't going to be sunshine amd rainbows from the beginning.
Also I think you're being too empathic with wren and not enough with the main characters especially with Tristan. "abandoned and betrayed without a second glance" Tristan was a boy that was manipulated and deceived. he didn't never betrayed him. wtf are you reading?
You even said you don't like the mc's and are "not rooting for them". You're not even trying to see things objectively or from the other characters pov huh.

what he get in return(?) he got abandoned & betrayed without a 2nd glance. he suffered every day - every hr of the day, for not just a week or a month, even a yr. but for yrs on end & he the bad-guy?!?
