Sure, could have tried to trap him with the baby. However, I think you are missing the fact that man still has some feelings for him (or at least acts in a way that indicates), like not hate. I don't know if we are reading the same thing but the flashbacks of them & reactions to his general health/actions (yes despite some being out of hate - but the others) etcetc show otherwise or at least partially.
Ofc we don't know his intentions, but I believe that "trapping" or the thought of getting him pregnant was the driving force to the disappointment or more likely of a reason based on actions. While he filled with rage or whatever, I don't think he would harm a child (like he took in the other guy), especially not his own. Bro tried to kill him or choke him, but couldn't (despite the hate) - I doubt he was planning much of anything (baby wise - hence the question) except for capturing, turning & keeping MC. It's like "I wanna hate you sm but I can't"
