I'm currently reading the novel and I can say that it gets much better. Taekjoo tamed him really well. I'm on the last part and there's no rape or abuse. But I have to say that there's still a long way to go. For me, the biggest down is currently starting in their "relationship", after this it slowly gets better.

I will say without spoilers that the rape lasts for a short time but it quickly comes to a point where Taekjoo has to admit that it can no longer be called rape. However, there is still violence in the first half and there will only be progress at a certain point. If you can't handle that, you should stop reading.

Yes he escapes their relationship improves after zhenya almost kills taekjoo for the second time you can see improvement befor it too but its slight after he scapes and they meet again they start a mutual relationship.... zhenya improves a lot but to the end his still zhenya (Idk how to describe him he is crazy till the end) taekjoo deals w him as if he is dealing w a wild cute cat !
