I think it's naivety and maybe greed, in few chapter before this I remember seeing one of the miner saying stuff like what is labor improvement or something similar which means they themselves also didn't know what they're going on strike for.
I was wondering, didn't they say that these employees are treated the best in the whole industry already? So...if they're treated so well, why would they follow that leader? Is it just to get even more by someone they believe is a pushover??
