I understand that people don’t like this season so far, but it has alleviated some of the concerns I had from last season. At the end of the last season, I was worried about je-oh accepting this new position. It was a similar path to Ms. J: going from prostitute, to running prostitutes. I was concerned with how he act. I didn’t want to see a character I adored hurt others that were like his former self. I didn’t want to see him prove Ms. j right and become like her.

It hurts seeing Je-oh struggle, but I think so far this season clearly establishes je-oh is uncomfortable with his new position. He has flashbacks to his trauma. Although he selected that young boy to be a prostitute, and let him (presumably) be SAed by the boss, je-oh was obviously conflicted with it. And later on, when a client was being abusive, je-oh smashed a bottle on his head. While Ms. J set up young Jeoh as a pawn (giving him the knife), jeoh intervened and stopped the client.

I haven’t read ahead in the raws, so I’m not sure where the story will go. But I wouldn’t be suprised if future episodes center the “thriller” elements again. Jeoh is in a precarious position. Not only do his underlings not respect him, but considering Ms. J’s husband/fiance is going to be a politician, she will likely come after jeoh at some point. Since his new position gives him some protection, even if he wanted to, he can’t really quit.

Overall I’ve personally enjoyed this season. I like seeing Jeoh’s character being explored like this. (No I don’t like the rape and SA, but some of those scenes were flashbacks that we as an audience already knew had happened). Especially based on the nearly 60 episodes of amazing writing from the previous seasons, I have hope the creator will progress the story in an interesting direction.
It makes sense jeoh is struggling from his past traumas.
