I don't think he was shocked, or acted shocked as if he was straight. I think he was disbelieving that the kid was STILL being persistent in his annoying puppy love, and he was trying to reject him and get him to give up. Which is totally fair enough. He had no idea Puppy Love already knew he was okay with guys and didn't want to out himself to the kid, which is also totally fair.
