Were unfortunate to be entangled with that asshole. Ancient times are so grim for many women. I can't say things have changed much for us in the modern times since mostly it's still the rich and privileged ladies who are less shackled by the patriarchy.
Anyway, it's ironic how the love interests mother thinks he has more choices in life than her then ended up having a major aspect of his life decided by the same crusty ass man who shagged his mom. I hope that old guy ceases breathing soon. One less vermin in the fictional world.
