hmm now now i know there's some unresolved stuff that should've been better approached but i think people are hating kana too much? he did selfish things and i do wish he was more apologetic about them but it wasn't really as bad as people think. a lot of it is attributed to the fact that the translations are wonky, even the translator admitted that they have mistakes in translating. basically yall got fed with direct mistranslations and ran along with it...
first, kana do think naho is average looking yes. it isn't a diss. despite naho looking normal, he's still the cutest to him.
second, he never insulted naho for being insecure. kana wanted to confront him because naho was saying he was fine doing the origami but it was obvious he was forcing himself to say that. that's why kana is saying it's hard to believe what naho is saying because he isn't saying it with confidence.
third, kana doesn't know about the things being said about naho by other people. the only instance shown is when he said naho looks normal - and that conversation was just his friends asking him about naho. he even kept insisting that he doesn mind naho being around and even got angry when naho was being called a joe shmoe - it was subtle but he was reinforcing that naho had a name.
also albeit it potentially him being also jealous, he also reprimanded that other guy a lot when he was bothering naho. there was never an instance where kana full on faced or saw naho being bullied and him never saying anything about it.
the only thing kana should be ridiculed about is how his reassurance for naho and way of dispelling the negative misunderstanding was very lacking. that's literally all.
