In one of the last chapter he says that he lived the same life multiple times. The last one, is the one where Sion was ‘betrayed’ (also in that one, when he wakes up in the snow, he immediately said he’s cured unlike in the first one, when he’s confused as to why he has to live again). The first is the one he’s telling us about now.
It’s kind of confusing because chapter 40-43 might be from the last life or one before that, but most definitely isn’t the same as the one he’s telling us about now.
