    You know how Asian families are, contrary to western culture there's not really something like NSPCC instead it genuinely is considered discipline - and above all loyalty is to family - even if it's fucked up

    Exactly. And for Asians, to go against your family is considered rude and ungrateful. That rooted culture of family loyalty runs deep with history. :/

    Apologises, of course there are exceptions - I'm just generalising because the vast majority of Western families I've encountered would say that hitting a child in any circumstance is horrendous and unforgivable

    And doesn't that kind of prove their point, too...? The fact that they would need to go to the slums in the first place...?
