It's only a highschool type trope. "Im breaking up with you because you're better off without me" if they agreed with that, they'd leave you themselves. It's the stupidest logic imo. Or the just-as-common-trope of "i either tell them i like them or i leave" and instead they leave instead of possibly being rejected. Especially in these stories where theyve already kissed or something, then they pull that, im like WHY??? I've been with my bf two years and we've had the talk of "if you have all of these complaints with me, why dont you leave" but never actually have. It just boggles my mind how people are willing to give up everything so easily
I really don't understand why writers pull that shit "oh I'm breaking up with you for your own benefit/to protect you/etc" -- it's such an overused trope and so unrealistic.
like I'm an Old, my spouse and I have been together for almost two decades now and in that time we've been through some shit, and never once did either of us go "I'm going through a hard time, y'know what would make this better? Breaking it off with the person I love."
just like. tf. ugh.
esp when he literally hit your abusive shit brother with a trash can???? wife that little chihuahua already.
I get that he's been Through It. And up until this latest shenanigan I was kinda with him, but the push and pull is heading into the ridiculous territory now. Wrap it up lol
