You actually got a good point.
It's gonna become more apparent how Mc is falling for ML later on but I agree on the power imbalance.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy reading stories where trauma and abuse are plot points but it's also important to put them into context and recognize when something is bad.
100% nobody would defend the ML in real life so I guess it's another "fictional phenomenon".
If it’s “have sex with me or lose your job” or anything where the person in power is using that power to coerce someone of a lower position into sleeping with them… that’s rape. The seme is toxic and no better than the boys who raped MC. He constantly ignores how much MC hates sleeping with him, how much MC obviously dislikes pain, and is overall miserable in this situation. He only cares about getting himself off and forcing his sexual preferences on a partner he knows won’t say no to him due to the power imbalance. This is not consensual BDSM and this is not good representation of BDSM. Cannot believe there are people in the comments defending the seme.
And I doubt the author intended this, but it seems less like the MC is falling for ML and more like he’s mind breaking given the way ML keeps triggering his trauma and abusing him, with Mc seeing no way out other than giving up his job. Which is the only thing holding up his self worth at this point, and even that is going away.
