Unfortunately this things happen in real too. Probably the artist felt that way somewhere in their past. Many people say art has no place in the practical world which is all about success dictated by the prestige of money. To all stifled creative types out there who are kept on being put down by others, just keep doing what you love. There will be people who would appreciate what you make and the effort that goes with it.
Yeah, it's very likely that happened. In Korea, there's a lot of pressure on students to get good grades and get into colleges. There's been a lot of suicides because students don't pass a test or get bad grades. In fact, Korea has the third highest suicide rate. :-/ sad, isn't it?

I think art has place in practical world, some ppl have stick too tight up in their ass, so they can´t see it. What they don´t understand has no value for them. In some third world countries you can´t be really an artist, you might get tortured or killed.
