Ok? But he's still his guardian.
That's what I mean with adoption tho now I'm unsure if it's more like a sponsorship(?) type of deal.
Either way, when I mentioned raising someone I was referencing the trope we can clearly see play out in so many mangas which is very obviously problematic. That's what I mean. Regardless of this story, the fact that that trope is so common is disturbing

A there’s two types of guardians:
A parental figure that raises the child
An actual guardian that guards/protect people
The demon is neither bc he’s not any of those
I know the troupe your talking about but this is not a raising troupe period.
The only people that are raising the kid is the people at the school/orphanage.

That’s literally one scene and it’s not like that at all!!! There are no suggestions whatsoever in the manga! DO NOT WATCH THE ANIME. All the beauty of the artwork will be lost. Yana too so is an immaculate artist and storyteller and the story is truly amazing with interesting characters, different arcs and exciting plot twists. Truly a must-read! They have no intimate relationship or anything like that at all. It’s more like an overqualified servant looking after an arrogant yet clever and sinister little boy who happens to be one of the most powerful lords of England with his hands in all kinds of politics and black market dealings and with murder being on the daily to-do list
Are there stories like this where the adopted kid doesn't turn out to be a romantic interest?
I get the feeling the kid here isn't a normal kid but someone who knows much more(maybe another demon or an angel?) so it's fine but I'm not liking the "raising someone" trope id like the kid the big bad demon takes in to just be a kid for once...so if anyone has any recs
