Its not portray in the manhwa but its obvious that he did A LOT of self reflection in the novel. There are a lot of chapters from his perspective in the novel and its really obvious that he regrets treating her so harsh. Its sad that they don't show that in the manhwa but I assure you he was really regretting his actions in the novel at least

In manhwa his character is not well written as compared to novel, I mean imo he's fine in manhwa for me but I guess not for everyone which is understandable but let's give him a pass as he's under the stories influence also calling it a martial rape is a stretch, that's going too far, I'd suggest you read novel.

Honestly out of all the scumbag mls, he is the least scumbag. Like, he’s fully on her side rn and truly loves her, and from the spoilers I read, I really do like him now. Out of all the other horrible mls, he at least had a reason for acting so irrationally. I can’t really fault him for that imo.
I’ve said this before, but the author’s authority in him is stronger than most, since he’s the second male lead. However, even though all the rules haven’t been met yet, he still broke through the author’s influence. That takes a lot of willpower in my opinion. Especially when a lot of characters with less importance to the original story still see her with a bit of bias.
Also, based off the original setting, his treatment and suspicion of her made sense and the fact that he was able to see the reality and truth of it all, while still being controlled, makes him a really good ml imo
It honestly feels like a enemies to lovers trope, and that is what they technically start as(even if it was just mostly one side that viewed them as extreme enemies)
And honestly that trope is another reason why I read stories with scumbag mls lol. Like, the character development and change in relationship is what I’m here for(also the groveling. We love a good grovel lol)
I’m actually pleasantly surprised that he isn’t as big a scumbag as I thought he would be. I’ve read stories where the ml didn’t change for almost a hundred chapters, but the fact that ml starts to question things even pretty early on says a lot imo
Kinda still hate killian like there is some marital rape going on too.
She force himself on her after calling her disgusting despicable and a snake. Like I know it's the influence of the author but he barely apologized for it.
And when she started to make some distance between them he made some wild assumptions and called her name.
Like brother did you not forget how many time.you insulted her and accused her of stuff without proof.
You also welcomed her abuser in. Like do some self reflection.
