it could be a cute part of his character development - like the reason he cut it in the first place was that he didn't care about what people thought of him. Maybe now he's starting to care what his love interest thinks and will start putting in a little more effort into appearing presentable for him
It looks like his hair is longer or just me? Don’t get me wrong I love both but it’d be interesting to see why’d he grow it out since he liked the short hair so much.
