I am a mother to a wonderful 19-yr-old boy and I love my son immensely. But if I walked in and heard he had been raping or abusing someone, I would call the police myself. He knows this too. The only reason not to call the police at this point would be if Haruki didn't want them called, and even then, at the very least, she should move her son so far away and NEVER let him be alone with Hikari ever again. She should keep Hikari at home until he is better, and do everything to protect her step-son from his attacker. Make sure that should they ever need to be at the same event, that they are not even left alone in a hallway together. As for telling the father, that should be Haruki's decision as well, and she should abide it. And if he doesn't want his dad to know, but the dad wants to know why her son is moving so far away, say he has chosen to go to a distant school. Case closed.

Ahhh this was so pleasant to read! Truly the words of a wise Mom ^_^ I wish for things to go like that in the book but I really really doubt they will (heard it from the grape vine) however I'm glad to know that there is someone who could look at this situation so logically and come up with a solution that respected the victim so much. I especially like what you said about telling the dad because honestly I think it would break harukis heart if his dad knows... which is also why I won't allow the Mom to make him the villain seducer because she will just ruin that fragile bond :( so I hope that does NOT HAPPEN. If things go well though maybe some therapy should be included~ until then, can't wait for more!
