Yeah, I don't think you understood my question. I wouldn't have thought it was an issue of reading comprehension, though; perhaps it's about maturity. You may understand this idea better when you're older.
Basically: no one is only one thing, and everyone has a right to be viewed as (and view themself as) more than the worst thing they've done. I'm not saying it isn't a part of them- it's just not *all* that they are. It's not a matter of whether a rapist is a rapist, it's whether that is the only thing they are and ever can be, especially after showing genuine remorse, working to heal the harm they caused, or just trying to be a better/different person.

And this isn't about rape apologism- I would make this point in any situation. We are all more than the worst thing we've ever done. That's all.

one thing's for sure. the development of the ML is not that bad tbh. he felt guilty for all the bad things he did to the MC and the first thing he did when he realized his feelings was to apologize. he didn't force the MC to immediately forgive him. he patiently waited. he became scared of touching the MC without the mc's consent. he distance himself from him but still talks to him and he let the MC know that he's pursuing him. he made efforts and want nothing but to make the mc happy and receive some few praises.

after typing all of this so ig I'm his defender now, no one gets the ML like I do

your opinion is very valid!!! and it's fine to not continue reading this story nor hate this story because the ml is a rapist. even though the ml changed, it won't still changed the fact that he did raped the mc and it's fucked up.
