i think it’s because he went to jail or had an issue with the police after his sister died and the gangs boss promised he’d get revenge if he joined the gang. that’s what’s in the novel but idk if it’s accurate
wow, dude made his way to the top on his own merit legally and legitimately, wonder what made him turn to the gangster life.
