It might be, but definitely not in the classical way we generally see it. I'm thinking he might do harmful experiments or something. Possible he blames the kid for his sister's dead? Idk, but there are so many possibilities. I'm very curious.

My best guess is he performs awful tests that are possibly traumatic, but doesn't realize or feel guilty because if he finds a cure for his nephew than it will all be worth it. I could be totally wrong. There's a lot of different ways this could go, so I'm looking forward to the next few chapters.
Oh my god, that would be so amazing. For the plot, I mean I'd feel bad for the nephew, but it would be such a good (not happy, but still good) plot twist.
You know... I really hope this doesn't turn into an "abusive past" or "abusive relative" kind of story, considering how scared he looks when his uncle hugs him.
And I love the tiny but significant progress with Chan Bak. Their relationship is progressing so slow though ╮(￣▽￣)╭
