Valerie and Lerusha is the same person.. I think that's a Russian terms of endearment that used with people close to them.. Alexi = Alyosha (in chapter 0)

Basically a nickname in "russian way" to show how close you are to them that's why Valerie doesn't like Alexi called him that way bcuz he hates him..
Example we called our dearest person/people with honey/ lil cutie/cutie pie..
