I think it's in chapter 19 where the MC’s ally was searching for their predecessor's records of the palace. He found out that that's how the group of the scummy duke manipulates the past kings

Spoiling this for everyone just so I can have more people hating on these bastards. Yk what they do to all the prince in that kingdom? They fucking drug them, the current kings and the past kings are all drugged since they were kids. For each generation, they would make the queen (who's also addicted to substance) abuse the prince, so they grow up isolated and traumatized.
Then they would give that current prince a regas, someone they will forever trust, and then just KILL THEM. After that they would drug the poor kids to grow like the current king (a useless guy who's too high/depressed and probably just wants to die at this point). Also the prince can't easily get out of it once they consume the drug, because if they stopped it would hurt them a whole lot. Just like having withdrawal symptoms but possibly worst.
THAT'S HOW THOSE MFS STAY IN POWER. THEY'RE USELESS BITCHES WHO KNOWS NOTHING BUT TO SCHEME. I FUCKING HATE THEM SM THEIR HEADS NEED TO BE CUT OFF.
