Probably the fact that his family is in shambles and he was homeless not that long ago, in previous chapters you can see him being bullied. He probably knows that if he fights back, they’ll spin the narrative and make him the perpetrator, and the fact he doesn’t have a set guardian will make it worse for him. (Sure he has the mc now, but before he didn’t and has probably just resided to taking the backseat)
