Well... this is completely out of the blue, but what if Norman isn't killed by the aliens? But what if he was able to become one of those scientists that those alien creatures respect? This probably isn't likely, considering he's strictly stated to be out for shipping. But... what if when he comes into contact he manages to persuade them or something? This is pure speculation, but...
This could be a big twist! And assuming that Ray and Emma escape, maybe... just maybe they would meet up one day and be like: 'Holy Cannoli I thought you were dead." There's always a brighter way to look at things in the end. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
