I don’t think that matters much as being a predator is wrong because they’re interested in someone despite them not being able to consent. So liking someone because of their features is fine but if you continue to be interested in someone despite them being a child it’s no better than liking someone because they are a child. Most p3do’s are not looking specifically for children but rather are looking to be in an abusive relationship where they hold power and that’s way easier to accomplish with a minor.

That’s where you're wrong because most definitions (Oxford and Webster) speak about “being sexually attracted to children” or “engaging in sexual actions with a child” as pedophilia. This character is sexually attracted to a minor. He wants to have sex with a child. Maybe not because they are a minor but a pedophile is any adult who is fine with a child being in their dating pool. He is fine with potentially engaging in pedophilia so he is a pedophile.
It is also important to note that word connotations are more important than denotations. After all, we don’t carry around dictionaries for every word we say and we don’t learn words based off skimming a dictionary. We are lucky to have the internet to look up words now but for hundreds of years we learn words based off how the people around us use them and definitions change over time based on that. My point is if we are going solely based off just the dictionary any adult dating a teenage would not be a pedophile since teenagers are not prepubescent. But we are still going to use pedophile to describe such people despite only recently dictionaries changing “prepubescent” to simply “child”. Likewise we don’t go inspecting the background of everyone in prison for sex crimes on children to figure out if they did it because they’re into kids or if they just wanted to sexually abuse someone and that someone happened to be a child. The background doesn’t matter, that person is a pedophile.
