This is actually the most accurate comment I've read abt this story like I had the same exact reaction to this story when I read it a couple years ago. It was so hyped but it honestly did NOT live up to the hype
I think the fact that it is so hyped and manhwas like Jinx and POTN are consistently top read/viewed really goes a long way to showing the preferences of the BL community. Which kinda sucks, honestly. Not that this is as bad as Jinx/POTN, not by a long shot, but there's a lot of mental gymnastics happening amongst BL readers methinks. "Oh it's okay that he denigrated this guy for months and made him feel worthless bc he said he was sorry" bruh. Nothin wrong with liking twisted stories but be self-aware about it. I feel like a lot of this story's fans wanna percieve it as being wholesome and that just...doesn't track, with me.
Fs, I totally agree with that. Like I can't really judge ppl for liking twisted stories but the fact that stories with genuinely not good plotlines are getting SO hyped up actually confused me. And yeah, Jiwon and DG genuinely just did not make sense at all to me as a couple and ngl they both annoyed me
people rave about this so I finally read it but bleh. Don't get me wrong, the art is superb, but they could have easily cut 30 chapters of Jiwon being a dick for literally no reason out in the middle and still had enough of a story to justify the chasing arc. DG has very little self-respect and he continually frustrated me. Really you took him back bc he brought you some fucking cough medicine? girl. I liked that Jiwon actually suffered, and after ch65 was pretty okay. But Jiwon didn't do NEAR enough so it feels very Plot Forgiveness. I wub Chanwoo and I was surprised that their portrayal of BDSM actually was -- pretty good? Esp that there was a disclaimer in one of the chapters 'hey don't do this' lol
