I think it's generally based on the Korean folklore so author probably chose not to explain the why of him sleeping but I personally feel we are to infer it is something related to him being depressed about having to take care of the underworld (when clearly he got cheated on for that position). Also yeom ra's storyline is like he's meant to be the main deputy appointed by da byeol since da byeol can't handle his duties but his unbearable loneliness leads to his corruption (a consequence obviously unthought of by da byeol). He comes to resent da byeol for leaving him alone and further taking away the one person he wished would help his loneliness thus leading him to conclude da byeol is the one to blame. I think he was possibly suicidal and did all of it to end his life since he couldn't kill himself.
It was good, very good but like in many BL with a very stretched out fantasy world, there is too many inquensistencies in the story line... Many point were not developped enough and the ending seems very abrupt and rushed...
Why was the king of underworld sleeping ? Who is really"the villain" (sorry forgot his name already) ? What was that protected flower really about ? And so much moooore ! The author had the opportuny let to many thing without an answer for no reason...
It was a great story to read bit yeah... a lot is missing imo
