Tbh, I don’t know if he ever will be one. I mean, dude only didn’t kill her due to the law. He was perfectly fine with treating her like livestock, raising her just to kill her when she grows up. Which imo is actually more cruel. Also, knowing perfectly well she’s just an abused, innocent child. We all know it won’t happen because he will get attached, but that doesn’t really change his morals, now does it? It will just become personal, it’s not about ethics tho. I think a lot of people forget that with those “cold father” stories. They don’t change as people, they just get personal feelings, their morals don’t change.

I believe him using the law was just an excuse to give this girl at least a chance to live a good life before dying rather than dying after having a life full of abuse and negligence, but we've yet to know what his thoughts were on that day, so we'll have to wait until they reveal that to us I suppose
