I haven't read the novel but I'm pretty sure it's because they found out that she's not a lizard but a dragon. The Etam house are descendants of dragons and basically the more dragon blood they have, the closer they are to the "true" Etam bloodline or whatever and no one in the household practically has any dragon blood anymore. And I believe it's because she's possibly the reincarnation of the dragon who gifted the Etam house with it's blood though I'm not 100% sure they know that yet. However, 5 years have passed o they may know now
I also haven't read the novel but it also could be because the family of the mage boy (the one with purple hair, forgot his name) also tried to adopt her, if she becomes the head of the Etam house she can't be adopted to the other house making it so Etam dad wins and stays with baby Eirin
