Didn’t it show that he didn’t believe her because there wasn’t much proof? Things changed now, which made the truth be uncovered much sooner. In her past life, the empress and her daughter were successful in her schemes hence why the father and son’s hopes were gone and believed the daughter/sister was truly dead
