See, I thought their FWB situation lasted a lot longer. I was thinking 3 years of high school (cuz they said they loved each other since high school), then 8 years no contact, then like 3 years of FWB before Ruka and Kunihara become their assistants, and then they get together after that summer. Cuz the transition panel between when they first start hooking up regularly and when Igarashi says "So we're basically friends with benefits" shows a lot of seasons passing.
Also, 8 years after high school graduation would put them at about 27ish years old, and when Igarashi is shaving his new goatee, he says he's in his 30s.

Yeah I think you're right, that's probably where the 3 missing years is, at least there's more hinting to that then Middle school. I probably didn't catch it since it went by so fast and my brain probably only processed it as a couple months since they're only now bringing up his goatee. But considering he's Asian, it's highly feasible it would take him 3 years to grow it. (≧▽≦)
I did have a different comment, but a lot of people seem confused about the 15years thing so I'll break it down. (Equation at end)
We can presume they met each other at the beginning of middle school (not explicitly told but it did seem like a timeskip could be inferred and only place missing 3 years makes sense) so that's 3 years. Then we have high school, so another 3 years. In total we have 6 years. Then we timeskip and Igarashi says it's been 8 years (since highschool graduation when they last saw each other). So now it's been 14 years since they first met. Then they spent another year sorta together (the summer photoshoot stuff, some sex after, and a while of ghosting) which makes up the 15th year.
NC- no contact: ST- Spent together
3yrs(MS)+3yrs(HS)+8yrs(NC)+1yr(ST)=15yrs> 3+3+8+1=15
