It’s because Jake is a manipulative asshole most of the time, he has an endearing and caring side though. He's been playing Shin since the beginning and basically his whole world cam crumbling down again. Shin is a guy who doesn’t trust others easily, but he decided to trust and love Jake, just to be deceived.

How this isn’t valid? He did exactly what I described and I explained why Shin reacted the way he did. Shin has a right to feel deceived, he didn’t know that Jake lying to him is apparently a “huge part of their relationship dynamic”. It actually isn’t because Shin didn’t figure anything out and didn’t try. He trusted him and got played. While I won’t put the entire fault on Shin, Jake just went wrong about it.
Why do some of you wanna see a humbled and desperate Jake so much? (I have no problem with it, I just wanna understand why.)
Let's not forget that Jake is an undercover agent -- he won't suddenly give up everything just bc of Shin and he can't just blow his cover.
Yeah, it was not nice of him playing with Shin's feelings. But tbh he wasn't expecting that eventually he would be falling for Shin. Okay I sorta get why some of you wanna see a depserate Jake.
