She went that way so that freya will follow her and so that, Freya will call the others to see what Ruby and Cesar were doing. So basically, everyone saw how Cesar treats Ruby because Freya said to follow Ruby. (Freya's expecting to see them flirting so she told them to follow Ruby)
Yes I understand that. I think maybe it's lost in translation or straight up a change in the adaptation, since she clearly set things up in the novel so Freya would bring everyone at the right time, so Ruby in her head being surprisef at Freya "saving her" is weird.
