The people complaining about his skin color sounds so fucking strange, does only proper brown or black color people exist? Have you really never seen greyish dark people in your life? Well people from some regions here in India looks like him too. You guys are the ones being racist, not the artist!
People being dissatisfied about characters skin not being a certain shade of dark always makes me uncomfortable, is one shade supposed to be superior than the other just because they're present in more percentage of people?

Ngl, I never met one but when you mentioned India, I remember there’s many with grey-ish undertones. Even so, it doesn’t matter, I still don’t get the intense hate for his skin.

I made a long post here too if you already saw. I edited it and added more onto it so it doesn’t look like I’m being ignorant of other’s feelings.

I don’t even know why the complaining happens. It’s fiction, that should say enough. It’s not really misrepresented if we don’t know who the author is trying to make the character look like, maybe they just wanted their OC grey. It’s that simple.

Doesn’t gotta be complex. I assume the name metatron is from the biblical Angel, I don’t know if angels have certain skin colors or what, but really doesn’t matter.

I'm curious if you have any links of people who have this skintone irl? I've personally never seen anyone with this grey of a tone.

Maybe if they colored him blue or green, they won't complain but somehow gray is an issue... He's not even human, if he had gray skin then it only makes sense cuz he's not human in the first place.

I found this but not common I don’t think? To me, it looks like she has grey undertones. https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/543946

Even so, it’s fiction, people can make the skin color any color honestly. So it shouldn’t matter. Unless we know that the author for sure is trying to make dark people representation, but clearly not based off the fact his nipples are brown and darker than his skin.

Thanks for the link. Google was not very helpful when I tried searching grey skintone.

I don't personally like the "it's fiction" argument as a lot of fictional stories have foundations in reality. I also don't like to police people who have valid complaints about representation and the fetishization of whole groups of people. But I'll reserve my judgement on the grey skin for now as we've only seen a handful of characters here.

It’s just not fair to be upset that his skin isn’t the way one wants it to be, like I’m not about to let people judge my character cause I wanted to make his skin a certain color that they don’t accept. Is my point.

I guess saying fiction is too vague. More like, it’s fiction and people can do any skin color. I really don’t understand the hate. Coming from a poc myself who still deals with colorism.

I’m sure author knows what brown skin is, considering his nipple is brown lol. They prob aren’t doing representation, but more like what they simply wanted their character to look like.

I can see where some are coming from though, regardless.

And yes, I’m sure there are chances of dark skin being in here in future.. I won’t disregard all Chinese authors since there are actually some who has characters with dark tones, and the art is usually beautiful.

I only hate the it’s fiction argument when it talks about serious problematic stuff people debate over when it shouldn’t even be debated. I am referring to rape, Shota, cheating, incest, etc.

Skin looking like corpse shouldn’t be an issue in fiction, unless we know for sure author is trying to represent darker people and is misrepresenting by making them grey. If it is really grey in real life, which I’ve never really seen face to face, I’d suggest getting diagnosed…
