Exactly I commend her for her courage but still Riftan has a lot to handle already...Moreover Maxim is his wife so of course he will not want her to suffer... And those knights are not her babysitter they have things to handle... Plus you can already see her reaction to the harpie... The reasonable thing to do was to first let her have some experience then may be she could go with them... I think Maxim os trying to prove to Riftan that she is like the princess but that's not true... The princess is trained and experienced and Maxim is not..

Omg like seriously! I'm all for Maxi's growth but like people need to chill about Riftan's attitude. He's literally leading an army which is already a stressful job. Now, he also has to be aware of his wife too??
Like can you imagine a army captain bringing his wife along to war when she is like a med student and has 0 experience on a battlefield?? Like is Riftan not allow to have his stressful moments, doubts and insecurities?
As much as Maxi is a protaganist in this story, Riftan is his own person too with his own story.

Exactly the comments section are more about how riftan is not supporting his wife, that she is strong... But seriously Maxim may be a mage but she still has a lot to learned... Don't get me wrong but I love a strong female lead, one that works hard to achieve greater thing and sure Maxim is that but still she lacks experience and is not trained for battlefield... I do not want her ass killed... And Geez some are saying that even at home Riftan would not let her do anything but he is thinking that she was treated like a princess at home that's why he is trying to give her everything he has... And you can't blame him he doesn't know how Maxim was treated nor did she tell him and it's not like he can investigate it cause her dad os also super powerful... Like chill guys
the best way for her to improve her skills as a mage is for her to gain experience in the real thing and get used to it as quickly as possible. Training at home will not allow her to get used to seeing monsters and having to be in the wild. I don’t think it’s fair to criticize Riftan alone because it’s true — he does have a lot of responsibilities, and it may be more inconvenient to have someone who has less experience come along. but I don’t think her wanting to improve her talents and prove that she is very capable is selfishness.

Moreover like others said about Riftan not supporting her ai don't think it's true cause if he didn't he could have make her stay at home even if she and the Knights beg him... I mean she wanting to prove herself is admirable and strong considering what she went through but I want to point out that she should also understand the way Riftan acted towards her... Well anyways I love them both anyways
However this is also the first campaign for the 2 boys that follow Maxi around. They had spend years as a squire training before being allowed to be on a campaign. The main reason why Maxi is able to join even with such limited experience is because they needed a mage and she is the only one avaliable in such an urgent time.
In any angle you see this, Maxi is being thrown into the deep end without enough preparation and training.

Oh my goodness I found my people at lasttt. I side with riftan, maxi is not strong enough if you’re being rational. Lot of people here is saying ‘he should just let her be’ when maxi here haven’t proven any major thing yet. You can’t risk your wife’s life just cuz ‘she feels like going’ & ‘ feels like she could do it’
I can't believe everyone's just hating on Riftan who's responsible for all these peoples lives and just praising Maxi in this. She has no idea how to survive in these monster infested lands, she's only just started learning magic and she has no battle training. It's a recipe to get someone k*lled. It's dangerous for everyone and honestly it's kinda selfish. I know she wants to help but she should have stayed home and trained then when she had more experience then she could join a campaign.
