I'm unsure but maybe that was before they were sucked into the game....like when they still played it normally in the human world without their souls/bodies being transfered into the game
While the game was in beta, the king had 6 lives. The Grand Duke killed the MC 3 times while he was playing the game.
However, now that the game is out of beta, the king only has one life.
So they are not physically in the game? It always sounded like they die for real if they die in the game....
They ARE physically in the game and they will die for real if they die in the game. That’s as much as I think I can say without giving spoilers.

It’s not a game, the empires are actually real, and the reason why the players need to beat the tower is to defeat a world-devouring creature that destroyed 48 planets. Earth is planet number 49.
Not sure if every empire actually represents the population of one of those devoured planets, but that’s the takeaway more or less. I think. The spoilers were pretty unclear on NovelUpdates.
I just reread the story again but I’m still confused.. maybe I missed that part or something but if the king gets killed by the grand duke will the empire start from scratch again and the king respawns or something?
