I think it's easier to understand getting cheated on vs getting raped because the former happens to everyone. But yeah, I agree with you lol.
And you know what? That’s a good point. I have a hard time with all the SA in a lot of these stories & cheating is obviously not nearly on the same level as SA. But I will say…I have read stories with both and they make the redemption arc so deep it truly feels like the person understood the hurt and pain they’ve caused + spent a good amount of time trying to correct their behavior and prove their worth despite their offenses.
This guy…lol where is the remorse? What changed? He built a house & kept his casual happy-go-lucky attitude after literally trying to kill a minor PLUS cheating PLUS threatening to out someone?? He’s the pits He’s morally deprived in multiple aspects and much like the rest of his life he did not have to work hard to reap his reward. I think that’s the biggest issue people have with this. It’s the lack of development and accountability in that character that put people off the story.
I 100% agree, I stand by the opinion that without the world ending, he would not have even tried to change nor seriously reflect how his actions hurt others.
Even without cheating, he still has horrendous morals. I don't see how their relationship would be fruitful post-worldend. He only reflected on cheating, but no reflection on threatening to out mc as gay and leak his nudes to socially ostracize him when he's well aware he was already socially reclined. Not to mention he began to be aware that he regretted sabotaging the relationship w mc when he talked w the Idol friend, yet we see him STILL sleeping around after he's aware that sleeping around is what caused the relationship to end. Lord the more I think about it the more I do not want mc to date him again. Forgiving is one thing, but to go back to someone who ruined your life ....
Okay I'm not saying its y'all cus different stories attract different audiences buuuuut it is so wild to me that there are stories on this site that have a higher rating and readers completely overlook rapist MLs but cheaters nah that's where we draw our hard line in the sand. lol...

**...I started listing a bunch more where rapist ML/'semes are shrugged off and have a higher rating, but then I was like idk if ppl would consider that spoilers?? With BotFMiM its pretty much in the beginning of the story & kind of the whole premises.. so I don't really consider that a spoiler.
Idk if you've been on this site long enough, I'm sure you have a laundry list of stories that come to mind.
