I meant to like your comment but yeah, she was also mentally a child (seeing how her behavior and speaking pattern was) so that’s also there.

Agreed, like she was so severely abused physically and mentally she acted out like a child would to power

She was a Slave, almost a child... I'm not going to justify her actions as empress, but all of that was caused by Sovieshu ascending to the rank of noble a young slave girl without a shred of education.

Wouldn't exactly call Rashta a victim... but yeah, if we need to point fingers, Sovieshu has the most shit on his plate

Yes, she was a slave. However, she was a conniving, murderous slave, who utilized her sexuality to get ahead.

Once again, she was a slave. However, she was a conniving, murderous slave, who utilized her sexuality to get ahead.

I used to think like that when I was younger reading this story years ago, but for the record She wasn’t murderous until after she met duke ergi who also enabling her bad habits saying if she didn’t fight for her position she would be thrown away. I’m not saying what she’s done shouldn’t be done without consequences, because ultimately it was her decisions that lead to it; but please take into consideration on HOW and WHY those were the decisions she’s made.
    .
She’s being abused both physically and mentally, by the people who bought her, who lead her to believe that her infant child was dead (mind you she was only 16) she has no social etiquette, no education, cannot speak correct grammar, or even write, she runs away then meets the emperor, who didn’t even care to help her because if he really did want to, he would’ve abolished slavery or at least set her free. He only viewed her as a babymaker because he still assumed Naiver was infertile. It’s only natural for her to be very possessive towards the only “protecter” she’s ever had.
    .
Had Navier meet Rashta first, she would’ve ended up differently, could’ve been one of her most loyal subjects. It wouldn’t have mattered who The emperor met because ultimately he just wanted someone to use them throw away. If anything he’s the one who’s cunniving. Someone who has some much authority yet couldn’t have a conversation with his damn wife
