He's still the team's ace as for now, but the coach will reset the back number for summer line up so let's just hope Eijun will get #1 this time! He's been showing so much ace potential in this match, I'm sure the coach will consider him as the ace for summer koshien.

at first furuya chosen as ace cause his performance at summer in first year more amazing than eijun, eijun also still bad with his control at that time and plus eijun got yips too when coach chosing an ace. his only plus point is his unique form and his moving ball, but thats not enough to go for long inning. thats why furuya become ace.
as far ass i read untill furuya chosen as ace he never breakdown except at game vs aikawa cause his stamina and still not adapt to tokyo summer from hokkaido ( hokkaido is cold place but tokyo hot).
it's true eijun make field more lively too but his skill still not in ace caliber at that time. at fall, tough furuya broken when facing teito, but he is still recover after that and still become greater as far as game go (and again eijun still in his yips state). untill finally at senbatsu when his skill fully awakened make coach vision to him become more believe to furuya. so untill last spring tournamnet (when number revoked finally after lost), furuya still become the center of the team.
Why was Furuya chosen as ace?
I get it that he throws really fast and has a huge desire to lead the team to win but other than that, he is all talk. Putting his speed aside, he has no control, very easily moved by his own emotions, unstable, and he breaks down all the time.
Compared to Eijun, who had overcame his fear, he has a better control for his emotion and stability due to his experience in his Junior high school days. He may not be as fast but his pitch is more effective than Furuya's and has a larger variety to confuse the batters. He is also the mood naker of the team who can change the flow of the game or at least bring up the morale of the team. The members seem to have more trust in him in my opinion tbh. I mean when Furuya comes up on the mound they're all quiet and never had anything to say. Instead, they just look nervous whereas with Eijun, they are pretty cheerful before they go back to their position and focus on the game.
When I said that Furuya was all talk, I meant by the things he says to Eijun about leading the team, not letting anyone hit his pitch or whatsoever, but then he goes ahead and let them take not 1, or 2, but like always 3 runs or more. I used to like him because he was pretty hilarious but recently, I have only felt disappointed in him since he's been over his head after being selected as Ace and I'd wish that they'd change his number with Eijun who seems to have more of an Ace quality in him.(╯°Д °)╯╧╧
