I'm talking out of pure memory since I've been reading from the beginning, but even when they started, they weren't rlly on the same page abt their feelings.
It's a misunderstanding on their part since they had a rlly bad communication at the time. But to make it clear, yes they were dating already and the confession in that chapter is more abt them properly expressing their feelings and not actually confessing to eachother (idk if it makes sense)

I reread again recently and based on my understanding, I think for a bit there gyuwon was under the assumption he was just a special sub that hwayoung liked a lot. So they professed liking each other, but each had their own understanding of it. Me thinks that's why they go through multiple processes of "confessing" their love because both have so many layers of identity to uncover.
