Sorry I laughed at "Nani dafuq" harder than I should have.
Except his is not denial but fear. He was sexually abused and associates being gay as accepting he liked what happened to him. He was probably told something of a sort to that as he was being abused. So it's out of his trauma and fear that he rejects him and his sexuality.
