I think he ended up waking up and then shortly after the other dragon woke up too. So it was 2 dragons going after the throne and back then ML was more stronger & smarter and the FL is also a smart woman who strategize well so they managed to defeat the other dragon & his partner for the throne early on.&& I think the the only reason we are seeing them now is because the ML refuse the throne this time. That's what I got from the past conversations.
But a dragon did die it was the woman. It just so happened 2 dragons awoke around the same time as it was getting near to her passing.
I think their "death" is different then our death. Cuz it sounds like their death is more of a hibernation, that will rejuvenate theme. But I could be wrong.
