I suggest you reread everything since the beginning. Thats what I did, multiple times to keep up, as it s been months and i keep forgetting the plot (lol)
I think the author had the whole cult/sect plot written all along and soft-launched it with clues over the first few chapters, and that only now are we really getting “into the meat” of the story. But as we keep reading the incomplete story, i mean unless you reread the chapters, reading it over months is impossible to keep up with everything (since most of us read multiple stories at the same time too, right?)

I can’t keep up there’s a new flashback and backstory every other chapter and I just don’t know what the end goal is or where the stories meant to go
