Yup. In the real story after it’s “ revealed “ that she isn’t their kid he ills her apparently so pretty good reason to be quiet. If your options are death or abandonment. I’d want to be ready too
Since the novel is not finished yet I don't know everything but it was not him that killed her
They didn't menddle in her affairs not because they didn't fond her not worth it or something, I'm not gonna spoil much but you should remember the previous chapter where the duchess said she sign the document to not menddle in her business, there is more to the story. (But it doesn't excuse them thry could have still be nicer, only the duchess has a valid reason because it was elodie herself who pushed her away)
Oh and but she also distance herself from them so they assume at some point she doesn't want anything to do with them. Basically everybody is kinda at fault

Her father and family neglected her and allowed others to treat her however, her brother was the only one really mean to her. But she was neglected to the point that her “parents”? Barely spoke to her.
She read a book in a different life saying that she wasn’t even their “real” child and doesn’t trust anyone to be on her side ever.
She is scared that if anyone knows she wants to leave they will stop her in order to “ make sure she causes no trouble “. Her only goal has been to sever connections and make money and find a way to leave.
The rest of the story is typically Webtoons shenanigans. Her family doesn’t hate her but it’s true that they didn’t see a lot of “ worth “ in her originally. The new FL is however interesting.
