I love it (like in books I've read) when there's a twist like that - the legend or prophecy or whatever talks about "The hero and saviour," and eventually you find out that actually the "hero" is one person and the "saviour" is another.

The main one off the top of my head is The Legendsong saga by Isobelle Carmody - only 2 have been written so far, Darkfall and Darksong. Still have to wait for the third book! But she's a great writer, I really recommend them. I've kind of spoiled one thing - the Legendsong in the story talks about "The Unraveller and Soulsaver," and everyone assumes it's describing one person - but you (the reader) figure it out pretty quickly anyway!
