This is saying that sometimes even if someone is there for you they aren't really THERE for you. They just listen.
Tbh I was Also surprised when writing it, at first it was the way he left her and how he defended tessa while completely ignoring Tommy's feelings which she had every right to, then when writing it I started remembering more and i might've actually forgot or missed few more things cause there are some chapters I didn't read in the previous seasons(i was in a hurry to know the end but after knowing it i felt disgusted reading the rest)
He's there when it's good for him.. she was there for him but wasn't actually.. he was and is a reason for hurting her
and now he's playing the victim card and the shitty thing is that actually tommy might forgive him
He's just acting like some teenager..
And! Even few chapters ago he admitted that he didn't raise tessa well but still not apologized for what she did to tommy or they way he took her side.
He's selfish and only cares when he's involved and even defended the shitty things his band did.. tho tommy was always nice to him he didn't even warn her to talked to them.
And now only caring about his feelings and Keith's feelings and completely ignoring the fact he was the one going back and forth giving mixed signals and he was the one who started that night and Tommy who's woke up alone with that note! Not even a apologized to her face
He doesn't respect her not even as a friend.. red flag even more than cheating cause it's manipulating
So hear me out .. alot were saying they're good to each other or Howe is gonna be good to her and all that talk.. now i kinda disagree tbh
Maybe maybe if the situation was different and Howe was actually single from the start or has already let go of his ex wife but all he did til now was hurting her .. and they're not in a relationship yet and tessa hasn't showed up yet ..

This is the third time he's hurt her or even the fourth or fifth by now ..
He never respected her or her feelings atleast if he even considered her a friend at a time ..
1. when defending tessa totally ignoring her feelings.. okay she's your sister but that doesn't mean what she did was right
2. he knew chi husband was up to something and keith has a complicated history even so he didn't bother trying to help til the shit actually happened.. now being like Keith you're my friend and that shit!
3. when he just disappeared when Catherine was sick while she was there for him and helping him as his friend.. okay we get it he felt guilty towards Catherine for starting to fall for Tommy but she considered him her friend and that for sure hurts
4. When he hide the fact that it's him when he knew it was tommy the one he was talking to online and kept it up .. if they hadn't met at the company was he ever going to tell her the truth?
5. Now !! Being cold in a min and crossing the line in the next one and now just leaving her like that being like it's okay if i lose her .. still not being able to control himself or keeping a distance? If he's unable to allow himself to be with her he should've never slept with her or even kissed her in the first place or kept it work relationship only not giving mixed signals all the time
